Hello, my name is Dean Terrasi. I was born and raised in Bronx, NY. Both my parents immigrated to NYC from Italy. My mother, Annamaria, was born and raised in Salerno, Italy. My father, Antonino, was born and raised in Palermo, Sicily.
It was 15 years ago when my mother had back surgery and was bed ridden for the time being. My father, younger brother and I, use to eat a lot of take out food because neither one of us new how to cook. Until one day, I had a desire for real homestyle southern Italian cooking. I went through some of my mothers recipes and she guided me as I cooked.
Each night at dinner, I prepared good food that we were use to eating and we were back to our routine. It was at that moment when my passion for cooking began to grow.
When my mother was able to get back on her feet and cook again she became my mentor. It is years later and I have perfected my style of cooking. Having parents from different parts of Italy, gave me the knowledge of exquisite dishes of southern Italy with a touch Sicilian cuisine.
I take pride in the quality and freshness of all the ingredients that are used in all of our dishes. All of our catered events and personal family size meals are prepared by me and everything is made from scratch. There is absolutely no shortcuts taken in preparing all of our meals.
Chef Dean's Homestyle Catering also provides family size portions for busy professionals and their families, on a weekly or monthly basis. The family size meals, provides the person on the go with the opportunity to enjoy a homestyle cooked meal prepared and delivered to your own dinner table on days and times you request!
